Project Scope
Construction of 161 bed four story dormitory consisting of two bed room suites and individual toilet facilities. ABM Mechanical’s responsibility was to assist the design team throughout the design process, provide detailed budgetary pricing and complete construction of the heating ventilation, cooling, and plumbing systems for the dormitory.

Project Scope
The work performed in each facility included a complete renovation of the plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, and fire safety systems. This work included the installation of ducted ventilation systems with integrated heat recovery units. The existing steam boiler was converted to hydronic hot water heating. The DDC controls system was expanded and upgraded to incorporate the new equipment. All of the lighting and electrical feeds in the facility were upgraded and included new controls. To complete the renovation, new ceilings and lighting fixtures were added.

Special Project Considerations
Because this project consisted mainly of renovations to the plumbing and mechanical systems, ABM Mechanical served as the general contractor. In this capacity ABM was responsible for all coordination and phasing to complete the project in the tight timeframe allowed.

Project Scope
ABM Mechanical, Inc. was hired to install many high efficiency Fujitsu multi-zone air conditioning and heat pump systems in the new dormitories at Foxcroft Academy. Installation of these units consisted of one in every dorm, one in every apartment, and the systems were also installed in the common areas as well. The project had to be completed while the students were away on summer vacation. It was successfully completed on time and on budget, with no negative impact upon the new building.

Specail Project Considerations
ABM Mechanical, Inc. was presented with the issue of how to conceal refrigeration condensate and electrical lines without having a negative impact on the new building’s aesthetics. ABM Mechanical was able to accomplish this successfully by concealing the refrigeration condensate and electrical lines through ceiling modifications in existing soffits.

Project Scope
This project consisted of construction of a brand new office and student center, along with the new Gracie Theatre. Plumbing, heating and air conditioning was installed throughout the entire building. The Gracie Theatre supporting staff offices are heated and cooled by a Daikin Variable Refrigerant System. The classrooms and offices portion are heated and cooled by air handlers with a VAV System. The boiler room contains two Buderus Cast Iron Commercial Boilers with dual fuel burners. The plumbing system is composed of low consumption water flow fixtures. This project was a LEEDs project.

Special Project Considerations
During the project construction ABM installed radiant tubing in the concrete with a temporary boiler hook-up so the General Contractor could pour concrete during the winter months.

Project Scope
Renovation of all three schools boiler rooms to replace some oil heating capacity with OkoFEN Pellet Fired Boilers and equipment. A total of seven pellet boilers, with fuel handling systems for each of the three school locations were added. We also removed the old boilers and relocated new boilers from other schools to replace 80% or more of the schools oil consumption. This approach allowed a faster payback and also had the advantage of providing modernization of equipment and a back-up fuel source. Many other system upgrades were part of this project as well.

Special Project Considerations
This project had to be started and completed while the students were away on summer break. The high school required a complete boiler room renovation that included three new pellet boilers, new boiler stack, abatement and removal of the old boilers, installation of a relocated oil boiler, installation of new hot water tanks, and many other improvements.
The middle school required the removal of a 5000 gallon oil tank enclosed in a vaulted space in the building. We turned this space into storage for the new pellet storage systems and added additional storage space for the school.
We accomplished additional energy savings by automation to completely isolate the oil fired boilers when they are not needed to eliminate off cycle losses.

Project Scope
ABM Mechanical, Inc. provided plumbing & HVAC systems for the brand new state of the art 184,000 sq. ft. high school.

The HVAC System at Hampden Academy is a complete geothermal system consisting of 156 bore holes, with 12 inch mains coming in from the bore field to the new facility. The heating and cooling is provided through 30 water to water heat pumps, 9 McQuay air handlers, and 13 water to air heat pumps. The entire building is air conditioned through the use of the geothermal system. The three story classroom wing is utilizing heat recovery wheels and air handlers which are located in two mechanical rooms in that wing. The new theatre in the facility seats approximately 800 people and is fully air conditioned. The state of the art gymnasium has ventilation and air conditioning installed by ABM as well. At the front entrance of the building, there is a snow melt system that melts off any snow accumulation. There is also a full kitchen with brand new state of the art equipment provided by the General Contractor J&J, and installed by ABM. There are 30 Buderus solar panels located on the gymnasium roof which provide all of the domestic hot water for the entire facility. This project was a LEEDs project.

Project Scope
The work on this project consisted of removal of existing steam heating systems and equipment, and conversion of existing steam heating systems to hot water. Additional upgrades included the installation of a new Viessmann oil fired boiler and distribution systems, heating pumps and hydronic accessories, classroom unit ventilators, heating terminals, ventilation air systems, fuel oil day tank and distribution systems, metal chimney liner, upgrades to existing gymnasium and cafeteria heating and venting units, DDC controls system, solar heating system and accessories. The renovation work also included the tie in of with existing biomass heating plant system currently under construction. Work also included suspended acoustical ceiling repair/replacement, floor finish repair, painting, and associated patching and repair.

Special Project Considerations
Due to the large extent of the work on this project being mechanical in nature, ABM Mechanical served as the general contractor. This required ABM to be responsible for the maintaining the overall project schedule. Because the work consisted of renovations to a school, the project timeframe was limited to the length of summer vacation. Despite the tight project timeframe ABM finished the project in time for the school to resume in September.

Project Scope
ABM Mechanical provided renovations to the existing school to deliver a more reliable, efficient geothermal heating system. Upon designing the new geothermal system, ABM provided and installed a total of 28 Change’ Air classroom unit ventilators, two ClimateMaster water to water heat pumps, seven ClimateMaster water to air heat pumps and three Viessmann Vitodens 200-W boilers. The classroom unit ventilators distribute heating and cooling through newly installed ductwork and ceiling diffusers. This air distribution increases the circulation of heated or cooled air in each classroom and utilizes the quieter unit ventilator.

Special Project Considerations
Project timeframe was to complete all classroom work during the summer when school was not in session.

Project Scope
Nutting Hall is a two story lecture hall facility at the University of Maine. ABM added 40 heating zones to the hot water system, provided and installed new circulator pumps with variable frequency drives (VFDs), installed new control valves to the existing steam equipment, installed new DDC controls for all the new and existing equipment and installed a new 12 ½ ton Trane rooftop unit with reheat coils to provide cooling for the entire facility.

Project Scope
This project consisted of the removal of two existing steam boilers, radiators, piping and trim and installation of two new oil-fired hot water Buderus Boilers and hydronic baseboard heating system throughout the church. We also lined the chimney and insulated all the heating system pipes.

Project Scope
ABM Mechanical, Inc. provided plumbing & HVAC systems for the brand new Benjamin F. Wentworth Intermediate School in Scarborough, Maine.

The heating and cooling at Wentworth Intermediate School consists of 14 McQuay Air Handler Units, 11 McQuay Water Source Heat Pumps, two Viessmann Boilers, and eight Daikin Ductless Air Conditioners. A complete geothermal system is used in sequence with the 11 water source heat pumps to heat and cool the entirety of the building. There are also eight Viessmann solar panels that are mounted on the roof to provide all of the domestic hot water for the entire facility. The new school also has a state of the art kitchen facility. ABM Mechanical, Inc. provided and installed four kitchen hoods with a fire suppression system to ventilate the equipment supplied by Arthur C. Dudley Contractor/Building Inc.

Complete general contracting services and design assistance for administrative wing HVAC upgrades. Provided a new HVAC system which consisted of a 1500 CFM energy recovery unit along with a 40 ton VRF heating/cooling package with dedicated units for each room/office.
Work also included removal and replacement of existing ceiling system, existing duct cleaning, new 500 amp electrical upgrade service to school, sprinkler heads, new led lights with dimmers, painting, new individual office controls integrated to existing building management system, exterior equipment pads with fencing. All work performed while school was in session.

Project Scope
ABM Provided Plumbing and HVAC systems for the new addition along with renovation to the existing school building.
The Domestic Water Distribution System is supplied by an on-site fresh water well. Domestic water enters the building and is stored in a storage tank and then the pressure is increased by the use of booster pumps to supply water to the plumbing fixtures and equipment. Domestic hot water is heated by a liquid propane (LP) Gas Fired Water Heater. A Soil Gas Removal System was installed under the slab and vented through the roof with exhaust fans. Heating is provided by two Buderus Boilers. Heated hot water is supplied to Air Handling Units, Variable Air Volume Units (VAV), Radiant Ceiling Panels, Fin Tube Radiation, Cabinet Unit Heaters and radiant in-floor heat. Air conditioning and ventilation is provided through Air Handling Units with a roof mounted Condensing Unit. Air distribution is accomplished through duct work with the use of VAV’s, Registers, Grilles and Diffusers. IT Rooms are cooled by Ductless Mini-split Heat Pump Cooling Units.

Project Scope
This project consisted of a new addition and complete renovation of the existing Grossman Hall. ABM Mechanical provided design assistance with complete BIMM Coordination or three dimensional modeling of all infrastructure for clash detection. ABM was responsible for all Plumbing and HVAC Systems including a new water distribution, sewer and storm drain piping systems. We installed new main and branch pipelines and performed exterior tie-ins, as required. Heating and cooling is provided using two systems. The primary system is a Mitsubishi City Multi Heat Pump System with four condensers and multiple fan coil units with reheat coils. The second system is a Campus Supplied Steam System and includes a heat exchanger, architectural featured Fintube Radiation System and circulator pumps for hot water supply to reheat coils, unit heaters and Fintube baseboard. Additionally, we rebuilt the steam entrance, installed a complete Digital Data Control (DDC) System, 80 gallon water heater and elevator sump pump with an oil monitor control system.

Special Project Considerations
Special considerations include construction on an active campus involving communication with students and college staff. The space constraints of the old building made layout and coordination with other trades a challenge.

Project Scope
This project consists of three, two-story town houses for student housing. Each town house has six units with four bedrooms and one common area. ABM is responsible for all domestic water, sewer, drain and refrigerant piping and HVAC Systems. Heat and Cooling is provided using Mitsubishi Multi-zone Hyper Heat Pumps, ductless wall mounted units, Greenheck Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Unit and associated ductwork. Each bedroom and common area has a ductless wall mounted unit. Bathrooms are heated using electric baseboard radiators.

ABM Mechanical provided design assistance with complete BIMM Coordination or three dimensional modeling of all infrastructure for clash detection. ABM was responsible for all Plumbing and HVAC Systems including above and below ground water distribution, sewer and storm drain piping systems. The HVAC System consisted of a McQuay Air Handling Unit, Multi-split Daikin Variable Refrigerant Flow Control (VRV) AC System, two Sterling Unit Heaters, one Mars Air Curtain Heater, three propane-fired Viessmann 200W Condensing Boilers, radiant in-floor piping systems, nine Grundfos Pumps, Xetex Heat Recovery Unit and Daikin Air Handling Units, associated piping, manifolds, ductwork and accessories.
